This week I took an unintended break and worked on 2D drawings and images with my computer. It was a distraction from all the glazing and pottery I need to do. I hope to start using screen printing to get more colors than just the sepia I’ve been limited to with the laser decal transfers. I particularly want some jet black for my crows and ravens. I also hope to use them for black accents along with my sepia decals.
Before we moved down here to N Calif, I bought a neat toy called Teresa Collins Stampmaker. With it you can make your own texture stamps and even stencils. Tried a few of these with limited success. I’ll try again until my supplies run out. Who knows I might get some great texture stamps from it. But the price is also exorbitant at $120 or more.
I also bought the EZScreenPrint Kit earlier this week, on the recommendation of Judy Freeman, a fellow Etsy Mud Team member. https://www.etsy.com/shop/JudyBFreeman Thanks so much! She has wonderful how to videos on YouTube. The package came super fast! Played around with making some crows for my mugs and such.
Of the two kits, tne EZScreenPrint Kit was much easier and less messy. I got some good crisp images on the first try. The Teresa Collins Stampmaker is messy and clunky in comparison to the EZ method, though some love it. I’ll try again until my supplies run out. Who knows I might get some great texture stamps from it. But the price is also exorbitant at $120 or more.
I also did some drawings for some custom cookie cutters I am going to have made. These I hope to use to make some luminaries.
All in all, I enjoyed my hiatus from clay.
